    PHS provided architectural and engineering services for program management support for the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP), the world's largest environmental restoration initiative jointly lead by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE).

    Developed and calibrated the everglades landscape model (ELM) in order to further understand and predict recovery of eutrophic (nutrient-impacted) everglades regions.

    Provided technical writing/editing and project management of the 2004 everglades.

    Consolidated report and executive summary; documenting updating data and finding from everglades research monitoring and restoration activities to satisfy numerous regulatory reporting requirements.

    Services under this contract included evaluating previous studies performed on the East/West Corridor of adjacent areas. PHS also reviewed previously proposed alignments and alternatives following consultation with the Federal Transit Administration (FTA).

    Services under this contract included evaluating previous studies performed on the East/West Corridor of adjacent areas. PHS also reviewed previously proposed alignments and alternatives following consultation with the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). This included an alternative analysis and a new or supplemental draft of its role on the HNTB team. PHS made recommendations for a new draft and the final recommendation statements according to the Federal and NEPA regulations. Preliminary engineering assistance was provided to Miami-Dade transit to obtain the Record of Decision from the FTA. PHS participated in preparing “New Starts” applications and request to FTA to proceed with the final decision.

    The scope of work was nearly identical on both projects including performing project management, field inspection of project site condition and preparing construction document for permitting and bidding for the City of Miami.

    The scope of work was nearly identical on both projects including performing project management, field inspection of project site condition and preparing construction document for permitting and bidding for the City of Miami. PHS also obtained and verified as-built plans of existing utilities within project limits. Services included conducting dry-run permitting with all associates governing state and federal agencies and investing conditions for proposed dredging of associated canals. FDEP permits were authorized. PHS monitored testing laboratories that conducted sampling and testing procedures for contaminated sediments. PHS provided administrative support during construction phase and assisted the city in identifying stockpile area locations for temporary storage of dredged materials.

    Used civil engineering for airfield pavement design including geometrix design in accordance with FAA circulars. Analyzed airplane mix and available geotechnical reports to achieve maximum pavement strengths. Used “LEDFAA” for pavement design in accordance with FAA requirements.

    Coordinated with other consultants to verify locations of underground utilities for design of pavement slabs. Prepared construction documents including pavement geometrix plans, existing pavement demolition plans, pavement details, pavement lighting striping/marking plan, and aircraft parking plans.

    Prepared technical specs and special provisions for construction engineering inspections of PCC slabs pouring of the approved heavy-and-light duty pavements and asphalts paving of the taxiway.

    Provided MOT for temporary TUG routes during baggage loading. Used structural steel engineering principles to redistribute floor loading and re-evaluate capacity of structural elements. Retrofitted existing steel members as necessary.

    Performed engineering analysis to verify structural adequacy and determined best constructible retrofitting scenario within project limitations and constraints. Conducted field visits to verify as-built plans.

    Coordinated with architects to verify removal of existing walls and location of new walls. Prepared construction documents and technical specification and special provisions.
